Free Scrum Fundamentals

Scrum includes five key events, each serving as a formal opportunity for inspection and adaptation. These events create rhythm and predictability, minimizing the need for unplanned meetings.

  1. The Sprint
The Sprint is the heartbeat of Scrum. It is a fixed-length event, lasting no longer than one month. Every Sprint produces a potentially usable increment. During the Sprint, no changes are made that would endanger the Sprint Goal.

  2. Sprint Planning
Sprint Planning kicks off the Sprint. The Scrum Team collaborates to answer three key questions:

    • Why is this Sprint valuable? (Define the Sprint Goal)

    • What can be done this Sprint? (Select backlog items)

    • How will the chosen work be done? (Create a delivery plan)

  3. Daily Scrum
A 15-minute meeting held every day by the Developers. They inspect progress toward the Sprint Goal and adapt their plan. It is not a status meeting; instead, it is a working session for the team.

  4. Sprint Review
Held at the end of the Sprint. The Scrum Team and stakeholders inspect the increment and adapt the Product Backlog. This fosters collaboration and transparency.

  5. Sprint Retrospective
The team inspects how they worked during the Sprint and identifies improvements for the next one. It promotes continuous learning and growth.
